Erika Eisenhut (Mohawk, NY) scored three times as Union College cruised past the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team 8-0 in an Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA) game Saturday afternoon at Clarkson Field.
The Golden Knights, who fell to 2-4-2 overall and 1-1 in the UCAA, were out shot 22-2 and allowed 12 corner kicks while collecting none. The 12th-ranked Dutchmen (7-0, 2-0) scored four times in the first 20 minutes and added a fifth first-half goal when Karen Bertasso (Scotia, NY) wove through the Clarkson defense and fired a shot past Golden Knights' goaltender Lauren Arredondo (Allendale, NJ) for her second goal of the season.
Eisenhut scored twice within a two-minute span and extended the lead to 7-0 just eight minutes into the second half. Brianna Bailey (Easthampton, MA) assisted on three goals for Union.
Arredondo made 11 saves in net for the Golden Knights, while Julie Gawronski (Dunkirk, NY), Katie Ratner (Smithtown, NY) and Sarah Sparks (Ballston Spa, NY) combined to make one save in the shutout victory.
The Golden Knights return to UCAA action next weekend when they visit arch rival St. Lawrence University at Noon on Saturday, October 4th.
