Schenectady, NY- Kate Allgood (Toronto, ONT) tallied three goals and Kira McDonald recorded 17 saves as the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team posted its second straight shutout by defeating Union College 4-0 at Achilles Rink in Schenectady, NY on Friday night. The Golden Knights, who improved their record to 9-7-3, will faceoff against the Dutchwomen (3-14-1) again on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
After a scoreless first period, the Golden Knights took control with three power-play goals. Allgood scored twice on the man-advantage, while Ashley Shaidle (Hudson, OH) netted the other goal. Allgood completed her hat trick with a third-period power-play marker.
Clarkson, which went 4-6 on the power play, outshot Union 37-17. McDonald, who posted three first-period saves and seven each in both the second and third frames, recorded her fourth shutout of the season.
