Potsdam, NY – Meredith Pridgen shot just 2-for-11 from the floor, but made her presence felt in a different way by grabbing 20 rebounds, including eight offensive boards, as St. Lawrence defeated the Clarkson University Women’s Basketball team 65-42 in an Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA) league game Tuesday night at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights fell to 7-14 overall and 2-8 in the UCAA while the Saints improved to 15-5 and 7-3.

In the first half, the Saints defense was able to control the Golden Knights offense by holding Clarkson to 4-for-23 from the field. The Saints also struggled, shooting 12-for-36 for a 33.3 percentage. Andrea Muszynski shot 5-for-9 from the floor for 11 first-half points to lead both teams. Linda Fernandez (Kennebunkport, ME) and Sarah Wesner (Sidney, NY) each scored five points to lead the Knights in the first half.

St. Lawrence enjoyed a 17-point advantage at the 19:20 mark in the second half but saw their lead shrink to four points as Sarah Wesner’s field goal at 14:48 made the game 38-34. However, the narrow margin would not last for the Golden Knights as the Saints went on a 19-3 run of their own to make the score 57-37.

Muszynski led the Saints with 17 points, while Aliza Bogdanich added 13 points and 12 rebounds, along with four steals. Wesner completed the game with 13 points and eight rebounds to lead the Golden Knights. Fernandez added 10 points, four rebounds and two steals for Clarkson.

The Golden Knights return to action this weekend when they host Skidmore and Union at Alumni Gymnasium.
