BAILKOWSKI SCORES HAT TRICK AS KNIGHTS SET RECORD at UNION

Schenectady, NY - Junior Christine Bailkowski (Aurora, ONT) set a career-high with three goals as the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team set a new scoring standard with another 8-0 win over ECACHL foe Union College on Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Knights, who improved to 5-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play, set a record for most goals in consecutive games, combining to score 16 times over the weekend against the Dutchmen. The previous high was when the Green and Gold shut out Sacred Heart, 3-0 and 11-0, in consecutive games in February 2004.

While Clarkson was dominant in Saturday's game, the Golden Knights produced an even stronger performance on Sunday, out shooting Union 56-8. Clarkson converted on 3-of-5 power-play opportunities, taking advantage of Union's 21 penalty minutes. The Dutchmen were shut out by Clarkson for the fourth time in six meetings.

Ashley Shaidle (Hudson, OH) put the Golden Knights on top early by scoring at the 6:10 mark, followed quickly by Bailkowski 45 seconds later. Captain Lindsay Williams (Mississauga, ONT) scored her first goal of the season at 15:46 of the first period with a power-play tally and Bailkowski added her second goal of the game at 16:20 to give the Knights a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Bailkowski completed her hat trick with a power-play marker at 4:02 in the second period and freshman Marie-Jo Gaudet (Sherbrooke, QUE) added another power-play goal at the 10:30 mark to give Clarkson a 6-0 lead. Andrea Maluta (Spencerport, NY) scored the team's 7th goal at 11:06 of the period and the Knights closed out the scoring when Gaudet scored at 13:00 of the third period.

Five different players recorded at least two points in the game, led by Shaidle's four points, coming as a goal and three assists. Bailkowski had three points and Gaudet scored two points, with both players scoring all of their points on goals. Jessica Cloutier (Parker, CO) and Kimberly McKenney (Smith Falls, ONT) each contributed two assists.

Kira Hurley (Pickering, ONT) recorded her third shutout in four games and fourth whitewash of the season by stopping eight shots. Dana Smullyan made three saves in just under seven minutes for Union before being replaced by Amanda Hanson, who stopped 45 shots over the final 53 minutes. The Golden Knights out shot Union 20-0 in the opening frame and continued to dominate in the final two stanzas with a 21-4 advantage in the second period and a 15-4 edge in the third period.
