Golden Knights Battle to Scoreless Tie Versus Union

Clarkson battled Union to a 0-0 tie.
Box Score
One hundred twenty minutes of hard-fought soccer was not enough to separate the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team from the Union Dutchwomen as the two teams played to a 0-0 tie on Saturday afternoon at Hantz Turf Field.

Clarkson's overall record is now 4-6-1 and 1-1-1 in the Liberty League while Union is now 7-2-2 with a 1-1-2 record in conference play.

Clarkson came into the game having never beaten the Dutchwomen, but for much of the game, the Golden Knights dominated the play. They ended up outshooting Union 13-9 and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The best chance for either team to break the deadlock came in the second overtime. Tori Sailor (Londonderry, N.H.) broke through the Dutchwomen defense and found space at the top of the box. Her low shot was just parried away by Union goalkeeper to Alison Brustowicz to keep the score knotted at 0.

The game ended up being a battle between two of the Liberty League's top keepers. Brustowicz and Clarkson senior keeper Kim Kenline (Akron, N.Y.) went save for save with each other, as they finished with six saves apiece. Both had a critical save in the second overtime to make sure their team did not lose.

Clarkson will take a break from Liberty League play when they host SUNY Canton on Tuesday at 6:00 pm at Hantz Turf Field.
