CU Women's Basketball Preview - at St. Lawrence University (12/4)

After splitting the opening weekend of conference play, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team will look to head into the second semester over .500 in the Liberty League but first the Golden Knights will need to pick up a win at St. Lawrence on Tuesday evening.

The Series: Clarkson trails in the all-time series with 20 wins in 88 meetings, but won four of five games from 2015-2017. St. Lawrence won both of last year's matchups by double figures (73-57, 71-45).

Key Stats for Clarkson (2-3, 1-1 Liberty League): Sophomore Carly Assimon leads the Liberty League in 3-point field goal percentage at 48.7% (19-for-39), sinking at least three 3-pointers in all five games this year for the Golden Knights. Over the last week, she shot 50% from the arc (12-for-24) with at least four makes in each game. The second-year collegian is averaging 15.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game and leads the league in minutes (37.8 mpg). Senior Kati Gotch leads Clarkson's rebounding effort with 7.2 boards per game, including 2.8 offensive rebounds per contest, which is sixth in the conference.

Key Stats for St. Lawrence (3-3, 1-1 Liberty League): Although the Saints have struggled shooting so far (31.9% overall, 24.1% from the 3-point arc), St. Lawrence is dominating on the glass, averaging 46.3 rebounds per game, 12.6 more than its opponents (33.7). St. Lawrence has also had its difficulties taking care of the basketball, committing 109 turnovers (21.8 per game) while its opponents have 82 turnovers overall (16.4 per game). Katie Frederick is averaging a double-double with 10.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per game while Chelsea Van Tassell (9.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg) and Annabella Pugliese (7.2 ppg, 6.5 rpg) are also contributing at both ends of the floor.
