CU Women's Basketball Preview - at St. Lawrence (2/13)

Though the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team's streak of postseason appearances will end at three, the Golden Knights have the opportunity to play spoiler down the stretch starting with a contest against its chief rival St. Lawrence University on Tuesday.

The Series: The Golden Knights saw their three-game winning streak against the Saints come to an end in early January when St. Lawrence came back from a double-digit deficit after the first quarter to win 73-57. The Saints enjoyed a sizeable advantage on the glass, outrebounding Clarkson 51-23 in the game.

Key Stats for Clarkson (9-13, 4-11 Liberty League): Senior Devin Sorell scored more than half of Clarkson's points in the first meeting against the Saints, tallying a game-high 31 in the loss. With a similar effort, Sorell could join the 1500-point club at Clarkson as early as Tuesday. The senior guard is just 26 points shy of the threshold that only three others have reached in the program's 40-plus year history. She also needs only three more 3-pointers to reach 200 for her career.

Averaging 61.1 points per game, only freshman Katie Frederick is reaching double figures and her scoring average is a modest 10.5 points per contest. The Saints own the best defense in the league, allowing league-lows in points per game (51.1 ppg), field goal defense (33.9%) and 3-point field goal defense (25.9%).
