Following a convincing 91-77 victory over SUNY Canton on Tuesday, the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team welcomes another Canton foe to Alumni Gymnasium, this time in the form of rival St. Lawrence University, for an early season Liberty League matchup on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Series: A historic matchup dating back to the 1928-29 season, St. Lawrence holds the overall advantage with a 139-66 record. Since 2021-22 both teams are 4-4 in the series including two wins for the Knights last year. In Potsdam, Braeden Burns tallied 29 points leading a 53 point second half in a 83-77 win following a 59-37 win in Canton earlier in the season.


Key Stats for Clarkson (2-1): The Golden Knights are outsourcing opponents 82-70.7 so far while connecting on an average of 10.3 three-pointers per game. The team has also registered 16.3 assists per contest, accounting for a 1.3 assist/turnover ratio through the first week of the 2025-26 campaign. Freshman Nate Abernethy has had a stellar start in Green and Gold, averaging 19.7 points per game through 74 total minutes. Burns continues to be a steady contributor for the Knights with averages of 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 29.7 minutes headed into the weekend. Steve DeRegis remains a key threat behind the arc, averaging 15 points per game while scoring 15 straight by himself at one point in the first half on Tuesday. Matt Toscano has provided valuable minutes off the bench, averaging 7.3 points and 2.0 assists through 21 minutes per game.  

Key Stats for St. Lawrence (1-1): The Saints have faced two tough opponents to open up their new season, battling to a 80-72 win versus SUNY Geneseo last Saturday before falling to SUNY Oswego, 92-83 on Tuesday. As a team, St. Lawrence is posting an impressive 10 steals per game to go with 11.5 assists and 12.5 turnovers per contest. Senior Dan Anderson leads the Saints with 19.5 points per game to go along with 3.5 assists though an average of 34 minutes a contest. Classmate Adam Dudzinski, an All-Liberty League Second team selection a year ago leads the team in minutes with 37 per game while adding 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds through the first two contests. First-year Aidan Phelan has been a significant addition, coming off the bench to average 14 points through 19.5 minutes per game.
